The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Another busy time around The Presbytery this week . . . . .
Tuesday of this week, after Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Fr D was expecting yet another workman who was going to ascertain the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) for The Presbytery. This piece of documentation will be required in order to claim back a substantial part of the bill for an air source heat pump which is going to be fitted to The Presbytery from the government grant scheme. Lots of reading and research has gone into this project and by having it done now the grant aid is twice as much as it will be from April 2022! The workman arrived a little earlier than scheduled and proceeded to look around and take photographs as part of the evidence of the insulation present (attic, hot water tank, and exterior walls), energy efficient LED light fittings and double glazed windows and doors. Tuesday, of course, was All Souls Day so Fr D also celebrated Mass in the evening for those parishioners present.
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D shot off to Bognor where he was conducting an interview for one of his marriage annulment cases. By the time he got back in Fr D just had time for a look at his emails (the EPC Report was one item) a cup of tea and a sandwich before he was meeting with the Parish Finance Committee to view progress on building works, finance, Gift Aid, Parish Centre, and a review of the 60th Jubilee celebrations of the Parish. He came away very happy with what the team had managed to achieve so far this year.
After Morning Prayer & Mass on Thursday Fr D was interring Ashes for a family in the Parish at Cobham Cemetery before getting to work finalising the newsletter for this weekend.
There was no Morning Prayer on Friday as Mass was a Requiem for a parishioner, followed by burial at Cobham Cemetery. Afterwards he was working on another burial of ashes and another requiem as well as a few more of his weekday homilies.
On Saturday morning Fr D was getting information together for this weekend’s Retiring Collection for the Retired Priests of the Diocese so that he could give parishioners a few facts when he spoke about it at Mass. He also wanted to make sure that he reminded parishioners that next weekend is Remembrance Sunday and that the usual Civic Service will mean that access to the church Car park could be more difficult than usual . . . .
