The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
On Sunday morning, at our normal Parish Mass, those younger parishioners who had celebrated their First Eucharist with us a fortnight before were present with us to receive their individual Certificates - we continue to remember them in our prayers as they continue on their journey of faith.
Tuesday of last week was the Solemnity of Saints Peter & Paul, a Holy Day of Obligation on which Catholics are expected to assist at Mass. As usual, here in the Parish, we celebrated two Masses at 09.30 & 19.30. Both Masses were an occasion when Fr D could ‘try out’ his ‘Digital Hymnal’ which has now been ‘plumbed-in’ with the new sound system. It enables us to have the music for many hymns and songs from our hymn book whenever we are unable to have musicians present. Fr D is able to control the speed, number of verses, and what instruments play the music. It will take a few sessions for him to remember precisely how everything works but by the time we are back to complete normal he should have remembered. Fr D was sat in front of that funny square box on the wall whilst he was having his supper - he spent some time shouting at it as a football match was taking place before the evening Mass.
Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D went off down to the Tribunal Office in Hove; he was delighted to find that not too much was waiting for his attention and he was able to concentrate on various things he was part way through at his desk.
On Thursday after he had celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass the LiveStream engineers arrived to link up the Parish Centre Hall with the LiveStream service so that whenever we end up over crowded at Mass the hall can be used for extra seating capacity quite easily. With many parishes being combined over the next few years this facility may well prove to be very important for us. In the late afternoon/evening Fr D had another BOSCO Catholic Education Trust trustees meeting (via Zoom); approving new and revised policies, overviewing the accounts of the various schools which compose the Trust and looking at schools who are hoping to join the Trust in the next eighteen months. By the time the meeting had finished Fr D was more than ready for supper and some quiet before going off to bed.
Friday morning the engineers were back completing work on the link and connecting the new sound system to the LiveStream in a better way than previously possible, this should lead to an improvement in the sound on the LiveStream . . . .
