The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A little less busy this week than last around The Presbytery . . . . .
On Monday Fr D was up early for the arrival of a man who was picking up his car after the three year lease deal came to an end. After a lot of looking about and research Fr D has decided to jump off the car leasing roundabout (he’s been leasing for nearly twenty-five years now) and go back to owning a car and going electric! Fr D has always maintained that, though convinced about electric cars, he was not going to ‘move over’ until the range approached 300 miles; so, when he discovered a few cars now did this it seemed the right time to make the change. He is expecting the new car to be delivered sometime toward the February - in the meantime he has been lent a car to use. Later in the day saw the arrival of a new washing machine at the Presbytery, this replaces the old one which had started leaking rather badly. As always Fr D sat waiting for the price to drop before he placed the order and saved £155.
Fr Rob Esdaile from Woking Parish (previously Thames Ditton for many years) has been in contact recently with Fr D wanting to talk about Air Source Heat Pumps. Fr D explained that he had not got one in the church but that the Presbytery had been using one for two years now without any trouble. Fr Rob and some of his Parish Finance Committee are now going to come across next Friday to talk more about the system. This comes after a meeting of our own Parish Finance Committee at which the team asked Fr D to think about what we do when the old gas boiler in the church finally ‘bites the dust’ - after some discussion about possibilities Fr D is going to be contacting the contractors who fitted the pump at the Presbytery (they are due to come for the annual service anyway) to suggest the possible options we might take for the church. Fr D has not wanted to do this previously until he had had experience of running a heat pump in the house first; now that he’s had this experience it is probably a good idea to get a plan ready for the church.
This weekend the music group and singers have started practices for Holy Thursday and Good Friday in Holy Week - all are welcome to join in . . . . .
