The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
It wasn’t the way in which we would normally celebrate the Great Week but, given the various strictures placed upon us our Easter Liturgies went well and Fr Daryl was very pleased (his first public Easter since arriving over eighteen months ago now . . . .
Many thanks are due to all those parishioners who in any way helped to make our liturgies the success that they were: Sacristans, Welcome Stewards, Musicians, Readers, Disinfectors, Flower Arrangers, Cleaners - this is how things should be, everyone doing ‘their bit’ for the benefit of the whole community.
Fr Daryl is also very grateful to all those parishioners who sent Easter cards, prayers, Masses and best wishes over the Holy Week period - you are all very kind.
Now, of course, we continue to celebrate Easter for the next fifty days, right up to Pentecost when Eastertide ends.
A reminder that from Tuesday (6th April) our weekday Masses will be celebrated in the St Francis Room in the Parish Centre whilst the works on the new Sound System and the decorations of the lower sections of the church are carried out. Moving the venue for Mass during the weekdays enables the workmen to start early and work straight through to the end of the day (this will shorten the works and possibly make things cheaper when the final invoices arrive). Our weekend Masses will still take place in the church building and will not be affected as the works progress.
Fr Daryl is particularly looking forward to the relaxation of all the various conditions placed upon us concerning the Covid pandemic; the government have laid out clearly the proposed route out of lockdown (provided that situations and data do not change). At each stage he expects to get an email from the diocese stating what extra (if any) things we are allowed to move back to. The end of the tunnel does look to be in sight but we must not ‘jump the gun’ in what we do as a church community.
Fr Daryl wishes all parishioners and their families a happy, peaceful and, above all, a holy Easter!
