As our community begins to move out of the difficult Covid situation that has plagued the country for the past two years it is good to see that many faces are re-appearing at our weekend liturgies - hopefully this will continue over the coming weeks too, as we head into the Lenten Season.
Many of the restrictions that the Catholic community (among others) had to contend with during Covid are now, slowly and cautiously, being removed - please remember that whatever you see on the TV news, hear on the radio, or read in the newspapers, it is the Bishops of England and Wales who make the decisions as to when any of the imposed restrictions will be removed in the context of church worship.
With an increasing return to something like normality now would seem to be the right time to try and re-establish our Parish Ministries Rota so that more than the present ‘hand to mouth’ planning can be achieved. To this end we would like all those parishioners who are, have been in the past, or who would like to begin taking part, in either the welcome ministry (Welcomer) or as a minister of the word (Reader) at our weekend Masses to contact the Parish Office as soon as possible, giving their name, the Mass which they attend, and their email/tel. number. These ministries are a really important part of our liturgies and the spiritual life of the Parish, so we do need to get them well established before we can move on and develop other areas.
Also, with the sad death of Pam last summer, we need to establish a team (minimum of two persons) at each of our weekend Masses who are prepared to staff our Repository for 10-15 minutes after the Mass. Until we have a team for each Mass we will not be in a position to re-open the shop again. Please, if you think that you would like to volunteer in this aspect of Parish life, let the Parish Office know (Name, Mass, & email/tel. no.).
Many thanks for thinking seriously about the above matters.
