The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Fr D re-appeared from his trip to Lourdes in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday along with a suitcase of washing which he proceeded to start work on. He also was most insistent on making “a proper cup of tea” because he had not had one since leaving the Parish over a week ago! There was also a selection of mail and email awaiting him which he attended to whilst the first cycle of washing was running.
On Monday Fr D completed his last cycle of washing (having waited for the sun to come up and start powering the solar panels), before another priest of the diocese came up for lunch and a chance to talk about the upcoming Annual Conference of the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland which both are attending for the diocese. This will be taking place in Rome this year and will also involve a papal audience! In the evening Fr D received emails stating that the flights he has booked to get to the conference were both cancelled and he had to spend some time re-booking with slightly different timings (this also involved changing bookings for airport transfers both ends!). By the time he had dealt with all of this he was more than ready for bed. After Morning Prayer, Mass and Exposition on Tuesday morning Fr D had a ‘catch-up’ with Sarah in the Parish Office and took time to write up his notes on Holy Week this year (ready for next year!).
Fr D was straight off to Bishop’s House after Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday as he had an interview with another priest for one of his marriage cases. When he got back home in the evening he had an appointment with a parishioner coming to see him. Whilst he was at Bishop’s House he was contacted by the sound engineers to see if they could come on Thursday to have a chat about some aspects of the system that Fr D had asked to be looked at.
Fr D was waiting for the sound engineers on Thursday after Morning Prayer and Mass. There has been an issue with sound quality on the LiveStream whenever the musicians are playing (speech and recorded music is fine, however) and they have been gradually tweaking things to get things improved. Also the car park engineers were present almost all day beginning the installation of a new ticket machine which will hopefully improve the way in which the car park ticketing operates.
On Friday Fr D was contacted by one of his previous servers/confirmation candidates asking him to celebrate his marriage - probably next year . . . .
