The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
An extremely busy week at The Presbytery this time around . . . . .
When he had finished celebrating last Sunday’s Masses and had grabbed a cup of tea in the Parish Centre afterwards Fr D was delighted to be taken off for lunch by a former parishioner (when he was in Reigate).
On Monday morning Fr D was up very early so that he could get breakfast out of the way before the heat pump engineers arrived at 07.30! When he opened up his computer to see his emails he discovered that they had overrun on last week’s project and needed to spend Monday there to finish off before a rescheduled start on Tuesday. Later in the morning a huge hot water tank was delivered and placed in the garage ready for the workmen when they arrived on Tuesday.
Sure enough on Tuesday morning (07.30) the heat pump engineers arrived and began their works which are scheduled to take 7-8 working days. After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition Fr D was able to have a chat about where everything was going to be placed and where to run pipes through from the new heat pump. Originally it had been intended that the new hot water tank was going to replace the tank in the airing cupboard but, due to its bigger size, this is now going to be placed in the loft.
Lots of new pipe runs (from the pump unit outside up into the loft to the new tank) have been fitted and lagged really well; there will be more runs of pipework when the time comes to connect the new system to water and the radiator circuit in the house.
On Wednesday morning as well as the heat pump engineers the solar panel engineers arrived to fit the new panels which we have been able to obtain on a local council grant scheme at a very reduced rate.
Thursday morning and the heat pump engineers were back working on various pipe runs and moving the tank into the loft (they had to disconnect the loft ladder before they could actually get it up into the loft. The scaffolders also returned to part dismantle the scaffold that the solar panel engineers used the day before; this meant that the area for the last three panels was now accessible. At some point in the next few days the men will come back and fit the last three panels and then the whole of the scaffolding will be taken down.
Fr D was quite grateful when the weekend arrived and all the workmen disappeared and he could rest his ears from all the noise he is not used to!
