The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Yet again a busy week around The Presbytery . . . . .
Our two Masses on Sunday morning this week were really joyous events. At our 09.00 Mass those youngsters who have recently celebrated Confirmation and First Eucharist were all given their Certificates, marking the end of this year’s Sacramental Preparation Programmes. Of course the preparations for next year’s preparation programmes are already underway - applications for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist for the children of Registered Parishioners who regularly practice their faith with our community are available already (until 31st August); applications for Confirmation will be made available once Bishop Richard gives us a date for the celebration next year. Our 11.00 Mass saw the Baptism of an older child who will now continue his incorporation into our community by following the Reconciliation and Eucharist programmes next year.
On Monday the friends that Fr D goes on holiday with each year came across and went out with Fr D to one of our many country hostelries. Having been told by a parishioner to ask about the hostelry’s loyalty card Fr D did so and discovered that the discount is 20%, very welcome!
Tuesday after Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition, Fr D was off down to the diocesan offices in Crawley where he is trying to get a couple more of his marriage cases ready for judgement. At the moment every time he goes down, there are so many queries awaiting him that he barely gets to open the cases to work on. When he got back home in the late afternoon he was involved in a ‘Teams’ meeting for the Bosco Catholic Education Trust concerning school data.
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was concentrating on getting the newsletter pieces together as he knew that time was going to be at a premium at the end of the week. In the evening all of the Deanery clergy had a meeting with Bishop Richard over supper in Epsom. The bishop took the opportunity to speak a little more about the new set-up that he wants to introduce for the parishes of the area and introduced three priests who will be working in our area from September.
Thursday, after Mass, Fr D was again down in Crawley and did manage to get some work on his cases done, as well as reading through the beginnings of a case for someone that he will be interviewing next Tuesday . . . . .
