The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A slightly quieter period around and about The Presbytery this week, but I get the impression that Fr D has been trying to move preparations on for the Easter period . . . . .
Last Sunday was the first of the Lenten Season and in the afternoon Fr D led our celebration of Lenten Evening Prayer & Benediction. Throughout Lent we will be celebrating this part of the Church’s liturgy - taking the opportunity to send some quality time with the Lord in prayer.
On Tuesday morning there was no Morning Prayer or Exposition as we were celebrating the Requiem Mass of a parishioner before Fr D went off to Randall’s Park Crematorium to celebrate the Committal Service. The Parish Office has been busy organising for this month’s Clergy Deanery Meeting which will be taking place at Cobham for the first time since Fr D arrived. The meeting part is actually quite easy but organising the meal afterwards is a little more complicated - trying to get clergy to respond as to whether they will be coming to the meal!
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D went off to the diocesan offices at Crawley where he has been ‘fine-tuning’ his written judgements for three cases that he’s called a judgement for this month. Writing the judgements up in a manner that can be viewed (possibly) by the parties to the case takes quite some time to do.
Having celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass on Thursday Fr D had a sound engineer coming to see him to get a ‘second opinion’ about the sound on the LiveStream service. The sound in the church building itself is always fine and when it is just Fr D and the ‘digital hymnal’ the LiveStream sound is fine as well but at the 11.00 Mass on Sunday as soon as the musicians join in the sound on the LiveStream cannot cope? The engineer explained to Fr D something about sound compression, adjusted one part of the system (before the sound goes onto the internet) and bow hopes that this will improve (finally) the LiveStream of the 11.00 Mass.
On Friday a parishioner led our second celebration of the Way of the Cross in the church at 12.30 before participants were able to enjoy a Bread & Soup Fast Lunch afterwards in the Parish Centre. We now have the rota for both the Stations and the Fast Lunch filled in until the end of Lent. Thank you to those parishioners who have volunteered to lead or to provide the lunches.
Everyone keep up with your Lenten resolutions, or make them now . . . . .
