The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Once again, quite a busy week around The Presbytery as various projects near completion . . . .
Our weekend Masses last weekend were really very full with periods of catechesis coming to fruition for three families. At our Saturday Vigil Mass for Pentecost we celebrated the Confirmation of a parishioner who ‘missed out’ when she was a teenager; at our 09.00 Mass on Sunday morning we celebrated the Baptism of an older child who had not been baptised in infancy; and after our 11.00 Sunday Mass a family from the Parish celebrated the Baptism of their infant son. Pentecost, of course is an ideal time for the celebration of all these sacraments as we mark the ‘birthday’ of the Church!
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday the IT engineer was back again to continue the necessary works that will, eventually, enable us to drop one of the very expensive BT Business telephone lines. Initially we reduce to just one BT line but once his is running properly we will move to another provider at a much better price (ironically they use BT lines!).
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D had a meeting in Weybridge and then went on to a hospital appointment in Epsom.
On Thursday Fr D went off straight after celebrating Mass as he needed to be at Arundel Cathedral for midday where the Bishop and the priests of the diocese were celebrating with this year’s jubilarian priests; this year there were two Diamond (60 years), one Golden (50 years), two Ruby (40 years), and six Silver (25 years). The bishop remarked how this represented 400 years of faithful service to the people of the various parishes that they had been appointed to over the years. After the jubilarian celebration Fr D went on to a meeting of the Trustees of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust at a primary school in Crawley. When he got back in the evening Fr D was trying to order the New Lectionary, that will be compulsory from the First Sunday of Advent this year, but the total costs of what we will need exceed the limit on the Parish card (it can only be paid for over the internet) so he will talk to the diocese to get a higher limit for a month before trying again.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D was changing the Mass books that we use to ‘part 2’ for Year B ready for the weekend . . . . .
