The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Another busy week around The Presbytery . . . . .
Last weekend was both very hot and very busy as the months of preparation by both candidates and their families came to a culmination in our Parish celebration of First Eucharist. Fr D and the candidates walked through the celebration on Saturday morning so that the candidates would know what was to happen and where they were supposed to be at any given point. Whilst he had them at the rehearsal Fr D was asking them seemingly random questions about Holy Communion and the Mass and he was delighted that they were able to answer all of them without having to think too hard - Fr D was delighted!
At the end of the 11.00 Mass on Sunday (Corpus Christi) Fr D left the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar for our annual extended period of exposition until 15.00 when there was a service of Evening Prayer and Benediction. During the period of exposition parishioners were present in the church for a series of twenty-minute blocks of adoration. It is good that we as the Catholic community here in Cobham should re-affirm our basic belief in the Lord’s ‘real presence’ in the Blessed Sacrament by taking advantage of the opportunities we receive to worship the Lord in adoration throughout the year (Evening Prayer & Benediction on the Sundays of Advent and Lent and extended exposition, Evening Prayer & Benediction on the solemnity of Corpus Christi).
On Tuesday this week both Fr D and Sarah in the Parish Office took part in the second of two Fire Safety Training webinars that the diocese provided to all parishes. Fortunately there was not too much mentioned that we are not already undertaking in the Parish, so not too much to introduce. Later Fr D spent some time with a couple looking to get married abroad. On Wednesday, straight after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D went off in his car to Worth Abbey where he was with Bishop Richard at the first Good Shepherd celebration for schools in over three years. Fr D was invited to attend in his capacity as a Trustee of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust for the diocese. The celebration involved input from many of the schools of the diocese at the end of which a cheque was handed over to a representative of Missio - this was the proceeds of many events raising funds over the past Lenten Season in schools from across the whole diocese.
Owing to all the other things happening this week Fr D spent Thursday at the Tribunal this week instead of Wednesday . . . . . ..
