The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Yet another busy week around The Presbytery, even without Fr D going down to the diocesan offices this week . . . . .
After our Sunday morning Masses a parishioner from a previous parish of Fr D’s came across to Cobham and took him out for lunch. They do this occasionally and it proves to be a nice break for Fr D. When he got back home afterwards Fr D was still suffering from a chesty cough so he took himself off to bed!
Tuesday after Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition Fr D was off sorting out some handles, locks, and bolts for one the ongoing maintenance projects that he has going on. In the afternoon he started the newsletter (knowing that there was not going to be much time later in the week), and prepared what he was going to be saying to the parents of our First Reconciliation candidates in the evening. The families have now completed 5.5 of 6.0 sessions of preparation and there will only be the celebration of First Reconciliation itself left after this Saturday. The children will celebrate the Lord’s forgiveness for the first time next Saturday morning (11.00) in the Sacred Heart. After Christmas the families will begin their preparations for First Eucharist which will lead to a celebration on Sunday 15th June.
Following on from Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D was delighted to receive the date, finally, for the celebration of Confirmation next year and, through the newsletter, being able to ask possible candidates to express their interest in the sacrament in a letter to him. The date for the celebration at Arundel Cathedral will be Saturday 24 th May. And the letters of interest will need to reach Fr D by the evening of Sunday 8th December. Fr D had lunch with a couple of local parish priests, where most of the time was spent finding out where each was in relation to the bishop’s Pastoral Plan.
On Thursday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was at Notre Dame School celebrating their feast day with all the girls. After this he was at a meeting of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust before coming home just in time to take Canon Churchill with him to a meal with the Catenians in Epsom.
Friday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was on a ‘Zoom’ meeting with the chair of the Bosco Trust before finishing off the newsletter and prayers of intercession for the weekend . . . . .
