The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Another busy week . . . . . .
On Sunday an infant who was unwell previously was able to celebrate the Rite of Welcome before Baptism at our Sunday 10.00 Mass, along with her parents and godparents. The actual Baptism will take place at Mass this weekend during our 10.00 Mass.
On Monday the decorating team in the church went down to one man as the project got nearer to completion. All the painting and varnishing should be finished by the end of Friday, ready for the celebration of Pentecost this weekend. In the afternoon Fr D had an email from the NHS asking him if he wanted to bring forward his second Covid jab - he replied yes and arranged for it to take place on Thursday.
On Tuesday Fr D had a aerial engineer come to look at making sure that most of the rooms in The Presbytery had working TV points. Having looked things over he will now get back in touch with Fr D when he has an estimate for any works found to be necessary. In the evening Fr D met with the parents of this year’s First Eucharist candidates for the last time before the rehearsal for the ‘Big Day.’
Straight after celebrating Mass on Wednesday Fr D rushed off to Bishop’s House in Brighton to interview another person who would like to explore the possibility of an Annulment; these interviews are quite challenging and take about three hours and form the beginning of the process (telling the story of what happened).
Once he had celebrated Mass Fr D checked in on the decorator to see that things were still timetabled to be finished on Friday before going off to Chessington to have his second Covid vaccine (hoping that he would not feel as if his balanced had gone and not wanting to eat on Friday, like last time). In the evening he met with the parents of the two infants who will be baptised this Sunday at Mass for the final session of the Baptism Course. Friday Fr D was very excited at the prospect of the decorations in the church finishing, the P.A. part of the new Sound System being ready, and the relaxation of some of the Covid restrictions in church. Everything seems to be on course for things to be much more normal around the church,
finally! . . . . . . . . . .
