The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
The Presbytery is well and truly back to normal after the summer break as things get up to ‘full speed. . . .’
Last Saturday morning Fr D was meeting with the new children undertaking their preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. He had already spent time with their parents on the Tuesday evening - bringing them up to speed before they took the lead with their children on the Saturday. This method of catechesis is called ‘family led’ and is now the preferred method within the diocese, capitalising on parents’ promises at baptism to be the ‘first and best teachers’ of their children in ‘the ways of faith.’
Having celebrated Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday morning, Fr D went down to Crawley to continue his work on marriage cases at the Tribunal. When he got back in the evening he was soon meeting with parents for session two (of six) of this year’s Reconciliation programme.
Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was preparing for a Burial of Ashes that he was due to celebrate on Friday. He has also started to outline several weeks of newsletters for whilst he is away on holiday (he finds keeping each week separate in his head very difficult and has to keep checking which week he is actually dealing with!).
Once again, after Morning Prayer and Mass, on Thursday Fr D was down in Crawley at the Tribunal writing up a new votum for a marriage case that he hopes he’ll be able to arrange a judgement for just after he comes back from holiday. Finishing slightly earlier than normal Fr D went down to Shoreham where he had the new academic year’s first meeting of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust. One new Primary School joined the trust over the summer with two more on course to join after Christmas.
On Friday Fr D was up earlier than normal, trying to complete his parts of the newsletter ready for Sarah to print off and post on the Parish Website. Parishioners are able to have the electronic version of the Newsletter sent to them each week (12.15 Saturday) if they register for the service on the Parish Website. After Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was at Cobham Cemetery for the burial of a parishioners ashes, having celebrated the funeral service a few weeks ago . . .
