The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Quite busy around The Presbytery this week, as Fr D got caught up with things after his trip to Rome, along with several meetings outside the Parish . . . .
Fr D arrived home from his Rome trip for the Canon Law Conference in the evening on Monday, immediately putting on his first lot of washing from his suitcase. Later, having ‘check-in’ with the sisters next door, he was able to put on the second load of washing before taking himself off to bed.
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D was off in his car to a meeting about safeguarding at Worth Abbey (he was so enjoying the drive that he actually went past the Abbey and didn’t realise for a few minutes!). When he returned home in the afternoon Fr D was helping a parishioner with their passport application before starting on the mail that had accumulated whilst he was away. In the evening he met with the parents of this year’s First Eucharist candidates for their session before meeting with the children on Saturday morning.
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D continued with working through the mail and began to look at the emails as well; he also started work on the newsletter for the weekend. He also chased up progress on the new machine and shelter in the car park (which looks like it will take until 8th June to remove the old machine and place the tinted glass on the shelter). Fr D is also chasing up the government rebate for the new air source heating system fitted to the presbytery they seem to want to know everything including Fr’s shoe size!
On Thursday after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was off in the car down to Bishop’s House to see what had built up in his ‘in-tray’ after a week away in Rome. He was also at a meeting of the Trustees for the Bosco Catholic Education Trust in Haywards Heath on his way back from Brighton in the late afternoon.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D had someone coming to see him regarding a funeral service at the crematorium at the end of May. After this Fr D was reading through the instruction leaflets for our new ‘contactless giving’ machine which he hopes will ‘go-live’ from next weekend.
On Saturday morning Fr D was meeting with the parents and candidates on the First Eucharist programme - at the evening Mass the candidates all received a wooden cross which Fr D had brought back from Lourdes . . . .
