The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Quite busy around The Presbytery this week as things begin to take on a more normal setting . . . . .
After celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday morning Fr D was chasing up a few outstanding items from before Christmas where individuals had not got back to him about various things. In the afternoon he was preparing for the first parents’ meeting with those children starting off on preparations for their First Eucharist in June. They completed their First Reconciliation preparations before Christmas with a celebration of Reconciliation for the first time and will be officially enrolled on the First Eucharist course at the 11.00 Mass this coming Sunday. When he met with the parents in the evening Fr D was very pleased with the comments that they were feeding back about the Reconciliation course - especially that it was much friendlier than what they experienced as children!
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was off in his car (once he’d managed to unfreeze it) down to the diocesan office in Crawley to continue work on one of his marriage cases that is coming up for judgement in the near future. He usually gets two cases ready at a time in order to get the best ‘value’ from his associate judges when he calls them to a judgement session!
On Thursday he was back down to Crawley after Morning Prayer and Mass to continue with his marriage cases (he didn’t have to wait for so long for the car to unfreeze this time!). When he got back in the afternoon he started work on this week’s newsletter - the process is not too difficult after he’s put together the front page and the weekly LectioDivina, Sarah in the Parish Office keeps the collections, sick/housebound, and dead up to date each week which saves Fr D a lot of time.
On Friday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D had to get things sorted for the weekend before he took off in the car to East Sussex where he was having lunch on a visit to a priest friend who has been out of circulation for three years now due to a lowered immune system and treatment. The trip was to have taken place before Christmas but said friend came down with a bad cold and was unable to ’entertain’ Fr D.
This weekend Fr D will be having the first session of the Eucharist programme with the youngsters and enrolling them . . . . .
