The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A slightly busier week around The Presbytery this week as the new diocesan offices opened in Crawley and Fr D’s books arrived from Worthing . . . . .
Fr D found the weekend heat very uncomfortable and was drinking water from the dispenser in the fridge at quite a rate of knots!
On Monday morning Fr D had an email from his old parish to say that his books, which had been in storage since he left, were being delivered to Cobham (by a parishioner who was passing by). This coincided with Fr D being able to unpack another couple of boxes and do some ‘thinning out’ so that he had some space in his study to be able to get books onto the shelves (all the time he keeps saying to himself “no more moves!”).
After celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition Fr D was able to take various bits of paperwork up into the Parish Office for Sarah to deal with when she comes in on Thursday this week. One of the files was all the documentation dealing with the Air Source Heat Pump in the house, now that everything is completed and the government grant obtained. After a sandwich at lunchtime Fr D continued on his ‘thinning out’ project in his study until the doorbell rang in the middle of the afternoon to announce the arrival of his books.
On Wednesday after he had celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was off in his car to the new Tribunal Office in Crawley, at the Philip Howard Centre. The offices had opened on Monday but he decided that not going down on the first day was a sensible idea and that he might, hopefully, miss any teething issues associated with the move. This was not to be the case, however, as his computer (now a laptop) was not yet configured for him. He now has a swipe-card he needs to use to enter the car park and building. By and large the new offices are looking good and well thought out and will hopefully lead to the whole diocesan team being able to work as one unit (rather than being split up at various venues around the diocese). When he got back from Crawley he set about organising getting some books onto shelves in his study.
Thursday after Morning Prayer and Mass the electrician moved into the church to set about the various minor works that were highlighted in the five yearly inspection earlier in the year. The electrician will be moving on to the house next Friday to fit a new consumer unit, again a result of the inspection earlier in the year . . . .
