The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Quite a full week around The Presbytery this time around . . . .
With a wedding and two baptisms over last weekend Fr D had thought (hoped!) that things would begin to slow down a little this past week but it was not to be!
On Monday Fr D played host to his Ministry to Priest Support Group for their monthly meeting. For one of them this would be the last meeting before their retirement at the end of the month (though he will still be joining the group each month for their meetings). They arrived and gathered in the church for midday and spent an hour before the Blessed Sacrament; after celebrating Midday Prayer they adjourned to a local hostelry for lunch before returning to the Presbytery to have their ‘Review of Life’ since their last meeting. After a cup of tea and some cake they celebrated Evening Prayer before they went their separate ways once more until next month.
After celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday morning Fr D was on a mission to get ahead with some of the regular items involved in the production of the newsletter (‘Lectio Divina,’ Bible Reading Plan, front page ‘Scripture Commentary,’ etc.). In the evening Fr D met with the members of the Parish Finance Committee; Fr D was able to report that the ‘schema’ for roof and high-level repairs was in production and will be sent to contractors to quote before going to the Diocesan Finance Committee for approval. He was also able to report that having consulted the diocese we are changing electricity providers so that the charges are marginally cheaper and that all the electricity provided is truly renewable energy (not brown that has been ‘greenwashed!’).
On Wednesday, having celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was off down to the Diocesan Offices in Crawley to fulfil his other function as a Canon Lawyer for the diocese. He was working on the Sentence for a particularly difficult marriage case which needs a lot of care in its wording and explanation due to the particular circumstances involved.
Thursday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was back down to the Diocesan Offices once more carry on the work of the Tribunal. Later in the afternoon he had a BOSCO Catholic Education Trust trustees meeting (the last of the academic year); this took place in one of the trust’s Primary Schools in Crawley.
After on Friday Fr D was meeting our new Deacon for a working lunch . . . .
