The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Yet another busy week around The Presbytery (Fr D thought that he remembered when things used to start slowing down for the summer months?) . . .
Saturday morning Fr D was meeting with a young couple who are getting married at the Sacred Heart towards the end of November. Having completed the Deanery Marriage Preparation Course in the spring and various pieces of marriage ‘paperwork’ Fr D started to talk about the actual contents of the marriage ceremony so that they could talk with their chosen singers and musicians and get a draft order of service together for Fr D to look at.
After our 11.00 Mass on Sunday morning Fr D celebrated the Baptism of an infant with whom we celebrated the Rite of Welcome at Mass a few weeks ago. This was the last infant baptism of the current year with a new timetable beginning later in the year (Applications available from the Parish Office).
On Monday Fr D was joining other priests from his Ministry to Priests Support Group. This time they were meeting in Fr D’s old haunt of Lancing, where one of the group who has very recently retired now lives.
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday, Fr D was straight off down to the Diocesan Offices in Crawley where he was interviewing someone who would like an investigation of their previous marriage with a view to possible annulment. These interviews are quite involved and usually take two and a half hours to complete - it is from these interviews that decisions about the case are made.
Wednesday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D began work on his parts of the Newsletter as he knew that time on Thursday and Friday was going to be at a premium with several meetings to attend. In the evening, however, he settled into his armchair to watch the football - even if sometimes through his fingers over his eyes!
Following Morning Prayer and Mass on Thursday Fr D had to get over for a clergy formation meeting at Worth Abbey. When this had finished he then had to get to Haywards Heath for a Trustees’ Meeting of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D was at another meeting in Burgess Hill . . . . . .
