The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Another ‘bitty’ week around The Presbytery, as Fr D attends to lots of little things . . . . . .
At our Masses on Sunday a representative of ‘Mary’s Meals’ came to speak at the end of Mass on their work, providing healthy meals for schoolchildren in the developing world. It was meant to be just an information session but many parishioners were moved to make donations to the charity (results on the front of the newsletter!).
On Monday Fr D left in his car mid-morning to meet up with his ‘Ministry to Priests Support Group.’ Getting to the venue church at midday they had an hour of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament before celebrating Prayer During the Day from the Office. After this they had lunch at a local hostelry before having a ‘review of life’ over the past month since they last met (including one priest who is still having to medically shield himself who joined in on zoom).
After celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday morning Fr D was delighted to receive an email from the government’s Domestic Renewable Heating Incentive to say that they have approved the new air source heat pump that has been fitted to the Presbytery. This means that every quarter the government will deposit £375.00 into the Parish bank account until £10,507 has been paid over (Fr D has been waiting for this result for three months now!). Things got even better in the afternoon when another email arrived from the Interdiocesan Fuel Management Group saying that British Gas had come back to say that the Parish could now set up a contract with Octopus for them to buy any surplus electricity from the new solar array. We need to wait a while longer to make sure that British Gas are still happy to be our electricity provider (if not we will go with Octopus for that as well).
After celebrating Mass on Wednesday and Thursday mornings Fr D spent some time writing his homilies for the next few weeks (he’s now thinking about getting ahead of the curve for when he goes off on holiday. He also prepared the next few week’s of Intercessions for our weekday Masses.
So far there are nine First Reconciliation/Eucharist Application Forms out with three completed and returned. Regularly practicing parents who want their child to join the programmes beginning in September have until 31st August to get their applications back - it will not be possible to accept late applications . . . .
