The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Last Sunday at our 09.00 celebration of Mass our First Eucharist candidates for this year all received their own copy of the Gospel of Mark (the Gospel used at Mass for most of this year). In their preparation session the previous day the children explored just how important it is that al o us pay close attention to the Word of God in the first part of the Mass - The Liturgy of the Word. Later in the morning, after our 11.00 celebration of Mass, Fr D celebrated the baptism of two of our younger parishioners.
On Monday this week Fr D had two parishioners of his from his time in Reigate (one of whom was his housekeeper) visiting. They were able to enjoy a very nice lunch at a local hostelry and talk over ‘old times’ before the failing light meant that they had to drive back.
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D made a start on this year’s Easter Triduum booklet for Holy Week before getting ready for a school governor’s meeting down in Shoreham that he went to later in the afternoon. When he got back, mid-evening, Fr D was looking at various quotes for car insurance for his new car.
On Wednesday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D continued to look at the liturgies of Holy Week. In the middle of the morning he was delighted when the workmen came to re-instate the shelving in the airing cupboard on the upstairs landing giving two sets of extra shelves. The original shelving was removed along with the old hot water tank when the air source heat pump was fitted. Fr D is happy that he now has a usable airing cupboard once more and took little time to make sure that it was stacked appropriately!
Having celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass on Thursday morning Fr D got on with his bits of the newsletter, ready to pass it on to Sarah. He was not going in to the Tribunal Office because his secretary was away for a couple of days. He was able to spend some time in registering and dealing with the settings of the new EV charger now mounted outside the kitchen side door. He thinks that everything is ready but will not know completely until he first tries to charge the car! The hacking cough that Fr D had just after Christmas seems to have come back with a vengeance and he didn’t sleep past two o’clock on Thursday morning; this meant that he was really, really tired. He took himself off to bed very early, hoping that his sides would stop hurting quite as much . . . . . .
