The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A very busy time this week around The Presbytery as Fr D continued to word on a GDPR ‘Access Request’ for the diocese as well as his normal routine . . . . .
Fr D had to spend a considerable amount of time over last weekend (sixteen hours!) on a data ’Access Request’ for the diocese before taking all the paper work back down to the Diocesan Offices in Crawley on Monday morning. He has done a few before but this was the first since the introduction of GDPR in 2018. He had to wait until a delivery of a new cooker hood had taken place (but that was fortunately out of the way by 08.30) before he could get to Crawley. He had, in fact, been looking at this cooker hood since the beginning of July but waited until the week before the August Bank Holiday to order it as it then fell in price by £75!
On Tuesday (All Saints Holy Day) after celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition Fr D was able to finalise the list of prospective candidates for Confirmation next May. We have six younger members of our community who have applied to enrol on the course - all of whom as well as the application wrote Fr D a letter to tell him about themselves and why they would like to find out more about this sacrament. The course will now begin with the launch on Thursday 17 th November. In the evening Fr D celebrated the second of our two Holy Day Masses.
Wednesday (All Souls Day) Fr D celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass before continuing the preparations for the Confirmation Programme. In the afternoon the banner for the Christmas Bazaar was erected over the church entrance to inform other residents of Cobham the date that it is to take place (parishioners already know, of course, because they are, hopefully, busy selling Grand Draw tickets and collecting items for the various stalls to make the day a great success). Also in the afternoon the old cooker hood was taken down and the new one mounted in position - Fr D was very pleased that it all fitted in as well as he thought it would when ordering it.
On Thursday, after celebrating Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was back down at the Tribunal Offices in Crawley - wearing his Tribunal hat - and discovered that he is now wanted by the diocesan solicitors for a ‘Teams Meeting’ next Wednesday!
When he got home in the evening he finished off the remains of a roast chicken from Sunday by turning the leftovers into a chicken risotto - something he’d not done since being at university in Belgium . . . . .
