The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A very busy week, once more, around The Presbytery . . . .
Fr D was very pleased indeed with the Parish Christmas Bazaar last Saturday: the team work by Parishioners was really good and the money raised was an added bonus to the day! Given the situation we still find ourselves in with the threat of Covid and having to take extra precautions because of this it was a great event all round. What was also very good was the speed with which the whole team worked to pack things up and restore the Parish Centre to its normal working afterwards; Fr D did not notice anyone rushing away immediately the Grand Draw had finished!
On Sunday afternoon at 15.30 the first celebration of Advent Evening Prayer & Benediction took place in the church. This was the first of four celebrations that will be taking place during the Advent Season - a chance to take ourselves out of the madness and hustle & bustle of preChristmas shopping to spend some quality quiet time with the Lord in prayer and song. After the service Fr D went ad sat down with a cup of tea in the lounge only to wake up with cold tea at 22.30! It must have been the culmination of all the weekend’s efforts.
On Tuesday after Morning Prayer, Mass and Exposition, Fr D spent some time preparing two ‘Burial of Ashes’ services that he has coming up later in December. As well as reading up more details of the soon to be fitted at The Presbytery air source heat pump - at this point we are awaiting it’s arrival from Sweden before arranging the days for it to be commissioned. In the evening Fr D was meeting with the parents of this year’s First Reconciliation candidates for the last time; after the children’s session this Saturday the candidates will celebrate their First reconciliation next Saturday (11th) morning. After Christmas in the New Year the preparations for First Eucharist will commence.
After celebrating Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D commenced work on this week’s newsletter and prepared a few more Lectio Divina pages for the remaining weeks of Advent and Christmastide. Later in the afternoon he went next door to the sisters to view their newly fitted solar panels and battery storage (similar to what will be fitted at The Presbytery).
On Thursday Fr D was straight down to Brighton after Morning Prayer and Mass as he had an interview to do for someone looking for an annulment of their marriage . . . .
