The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Finally, things seem to have slowed down to ‘summer time’ levels and Fr D is managing to get a lot of little bits and pieces done that he doesn’t normally get time to attend to . . . . .
After Sunday lunch this week Fr D started a ‘tidy-up’ of his desk - trying to get rid of lots of paper that has built up since Easter. While a lot of it was able to be filed away there was a great amount that he was able to just shred (- very therapeutic!).
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D was off in the car to the diocesan offices in Crawley to wear his other ‘Canon Law hat.’ He was delighted to discover that the A24 was now fully opened once more although he took the motorway as he’d been told that with schools off and people going away on holiday the motorway was approaching sensible! When he arrived at the office he found that the three possible dates that he’d given out for a judgement meeting were all unsuitable for the other two judges and needed to search his diary for another three possibilities (very frustrating, having written his arguments for two cases under discussion).
Following Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D made a start on this week’s Newsletter, knowing that he needed it for Thursday as Sarah was taking Friday off. He made good in-roads to his parts and by lunch time knew that he’d broken the back of it. After lunch Fr D was starting/renewing his research of the various incoming and export electricity tariffs, to make sure that we are on the most effective. He discovered that this is complicated enough when you are only purchasing electricity but becomes even more complicated when you are selling excess solar power as well!
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Thursday Fr D finished off his parts of the Newsletter and gave them to Sarah to complete, print, and prepare for publishing on Saturday. During August Sarah will only be in the Parish Office on Thursdays and Fridays as she takes some of her annual leave (please keep an eye on the inside page of the Newsletter for the changes).
Following Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D was working on a funeral service that he has coming up, getting ready to see the family of the deceased, probably one day next week . . . . .
