The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Last Sunday our community was blessed with the admission, through the sacrament of Baptism, of two new infant members at our Sunday morning Mass. Congratulations to both children and their families as they embark on the great journey of faith which is our following of Christ.
On Monday Fr D began some preparatory work for our Corpus Christi celebration of Extended Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Evening Prayer. The Blessed Sacrament will be left out for private prayer from after our Sunday Mass until 15.00 when a celebration of Evening Prayer & Benediction will take place. All parishes are encouraged by the Church to have this extended period of Exposition at least once a year. There is a list in the narthex of the church for parishioners to sign up (twenty minute slots) to make sure that the Blessed Sacrament is not left unattended, please have a look this weekend to make sure all the slots are taken care of. Our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are also reminded that their annual renewal promises for their ministry will be taking place at our two Masses next weekend (please make sure to go into the sacristy to sign your name after you have renewed - these names are sent on to Bishop’s House, forming a constant record of those who are privileged to undertake this role in each Parish of the Diocese.
Tuesday, straight after our celebration of Mass in the morning Fr D had to go down to Arundel for a ‘Clergy In-Service Day’ along with other priests who had been ordained around the same number of years. The purpose was to help form the programme of training that will take place over the next few years for the challenges that will be facing all clergy in their ministry.
On Wednesday a TV aerial engineer was in The Presbytery fitting TV points in the various rooms so that any future configuration will still work. Fr D took the opportunity to give the various oil candles that we use in our liturgies a service and really good clean, so that things are ready when all the present restrictions end.
The CCTV engineers who fitted the LiveStream service and updated the security cameras around our properties have now got back to Fr D with a quote for the works to fit a permanent link to the Hall in the Parish Centre so that we will always have the ability to cope with an overspill of worshippers. Fr D accepted the quote and they will arrange to come once they have the equipment . . . . . . . .
