The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A slightly quieter week around The Presbytery this time around as the holiday period begins in earnest . . . . .
Fr D was supposed to have ben with the Epsom Catenian Circle for President’s Sunday lunch on Sunday after our two morning Masses but was not feeling well all morning and thought it best to stay home.
Following Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D had the electrician completing several pieces of outstanding electrical work around the Parish properties, one of which was the fitting of an extractor fan in Fr D’s bathroom in the Presbytery (this will help reduce the risk of any mould growth on the ceiling and walls). After lunch he had an appointment at the Health Centre to check on his medication. Later in the afternoon Fr D was creating lists of things that he wants to get done during the summer period that never get done the rest of the year!
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was meeting with a parishioner before going off to have lunch with Fr Ruslan (Walton). The pair of them have decided to meet for lunch together once a month. On getting back home Fr D continued with his lists of things to get done over the summer (which was growing like topsy!). In the evening Fr D started work on another of his marriage cases for the Tribunal.
On Thursday Fr D was away for the day with a friend, watching cricket at the Oval in London; they have been doing this once a year during the summer for a few years now. Although not particularly a cricket fan, Fr D enjoys the company and is beginning to understand the arcane rules of the game. When he arrived home in the evening Fr D was able to get most of his parts of the newsletter completed ready for Sarah to finish things off and print/publish.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D took receipt of this years’ Christmas Grand Draw tickets which he had designed and sent off to be made a couple of weeks ago. These are now safely ready to be distributed at the correct time ready for the day (Saturday 7 th December 2024)! In the afternoon Fr D was working on a couple of week’s worth of ‘thoughts on the Gospel Reading’ for use during our weekday Masses.
Saturday this week, with no sacramental classes to arrange, Fr D took the opportunity to have a bit of a ‘tidy-up’ around his study; managing to find a few things he hadn’t seen for a little while . . . .
