Church Mouse Update 26th March 2023
The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A busy time once again around The Presbytery this week . . . . .
After the Saturday evening Mass last weekend Cobham was playing host to the prospective Confirmation candidates from Surrey as they spent an evening with Bishop Richard. The evening began at 19.00 and included games as well as an opportunity to ‘try out’ Lectio Divina with the bishop. The evening ended at 21.00 and Fr D thought that the youngsters enjoyed themselves.
Sunday afternoon Fr D was very pleased to celebrate Lenten Evening Prayer and Benediction once more (on Mothering Sunday).
Early Monday morning Fr D took delivery of a new tumble dryer for the Presbytery. The old one had been making some very strange sounds for a few weeks (so much so that he was concerned about leaving it running whilst he was out of the house!). He’d looked at various reviews over this time and had decided what he wanted as the replacement and then waited until he saw it drop in price by £150, then he pounced! He has had his head in the instruction book for about three hours as it has lots of programme variations available (but he think that he’ll stick to three or four!).
After celebrating Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday morning Fr D spent time tidying up the Triduum booklet for our Holy Week celebrations before sending it off to the musicians to check.
On Wednesday, having celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D went off down to the diocesan offices in Crawley where he had a judgement session for one of his marriage cases along with two associate judges. Fr D was delighted that, in this instance, everyone came up with exactly the same decisions.
Thursday was a very full day for Fr D. After Morning Prayer & Mass he was off to Worth Abbey for a meeting of diocesan clergy (priests & deacons) concerning Supervision and Mentoring for the clergy. About thirty clergy were present to hear the presentation about how, with ever-decreasing numbers, the clergy might help each other in the future. Fr D then went straight on to a BOSCO Catholic Education Trust meeting in Haywards Heath before arriving back home half way through the evening.
On Friday Fr D had two more judgement sessions . . . .
