The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Another hectic week around The Presbytery . . . . .
After our weekend Masses on Sunday afternoon Fr D and several parishioners went off to Cobham Cemetery to celebrate the annual Blessing of Graves. After a short service at the cemetery chapel gates parishioners moved to stand by the graves of their relatives and Fr D went to each grave to bless it. After the service all retired to the Parish Centre where they indulged in some very tasty scones and home-made jam - a very enjoyable and prayerful afternoon.
On Monday Fr D was playing host to his Ministry to Priest’s Support Group.
Tuesday morning, after Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Fr D picked up Canon Tony Churchill and they went off to St Joseph's, Epsom for the November Deanery Meeting. The November meeting always involves a Mass in remembrance of all those clergy who have served in the deanery parishes but have since died. During the meeting the priests finalised the Advent reconciliation Services that will be taking place in the parishes over the next few weeks; ours are: Saturday 9th December 11.00 for Children and Thursday 14 th December (jointly with Effingham & Fetcham) 19.30, Effingham. In the evening Fr D was meeting with the parents of this year’s First Reconciliation Candidates for their penultimate session before the children celebrate their First Reconciliation at our Children’s Advent Reconciliation Service.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D was off to the diocesan offices in Crawley where he started work on a new marriage case that is now ready for judgement.
On Thursday Fr D was not able to celebrate Morning Prayer or Mass as he had a Safeguarding training session (7 hours!) on zoom. In the evening he was joining the Epsom Catenian Circle at their annual ‘Clergy and Ladies Night.’
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D was rushing to get this week’s newsletter ready for Sarah. All the events earlier during the week had meant that he didn’t get enough time to deal with this before. He normally gets an hour or two during the week to complete this task but it was just not possible this week . . . . . . .
