The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A very busy week around The Presbytery as things begin to ‘start up’ again after the long summer holiday . . . . .
On Sunday Fr D was delighted to meet the candidates for this year’s First Reconciliation and First Eucharist programmes as they were enrolled onto the Reconciliation programme which will culminate in them celebrating their First Reconciliation at our Children’s Advent Reconciliation Service on 9th December. Please remember both them and their families as they embark upon this important part of their individual faith journeys.
On Monday Fr D was playing host to his Ministry to Priest’s Support Group at their monthly meeting. They met for an hour before the Blessed Sacrament in the church at midday before celebrating Midday Prayer and going off to a ‘local hostelry’ for lunch. After they returned from lunch they had a review of life (how things have gone for each of them in the month since their last meeting), some tea and a celebration of Evening Prayer.
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Fr D caught up with some emails and bills before beginning to ‘write-up’ his ‘sentence’ for the marriage case that he judged the previous Friday. In the evening he met with the parents of this year’s First Reconciliation candidates to go through with them the materials that they would be using on Saturday with their children. This time it was principally about ‘Baptism - belonging to God’s Family.’
Having celebrated Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D had a couple of people coming to see him one after the other. This meant that he didn’t go down to the Diocesan Offices to do his stint at the Tribunal.
Straight after Morning Prayer and Mass on Thursday Fr D was off in his car to the Diocesan Offices so that he could finish ‘writing-up’ the ‘sentence’ so that it could be published to the two people whose marriage it concerned. He had written about a third of it when the computer refused to let him edit it for some obscure reason. Fortunately the ‘IT man’ (on holiday) was able to take over remotely the computer and got things back to normal. Further computer induced chaos awaited Fr D when he got back and discovered that all of the work he’d already done on this week’s newsletter had disappeared and he had to start again (a very late night for Fr D) . . . . .
