Now that the government has ‘made good’ on their promises to relax the various Covid restrictions that have been in place for some considerable time now, and these have taken effect (from Monday 19th July); we will return to having two Sunday Masses (09.00 & 11.00) from next weekend (Saturday 31st July/Sunday 1st August).
From this weekend, forward, the following needs to be in place:
The wearing of facial coverings (mouth and nose) is still required for those attending Mass.
The use of the hand sanitising point as you enter the church is required.
The use of either the NHS QR Code (via mobile app) or the ‘sign-in’ sheets as you enter the church is required.
The balcony area of the church is locked off.
The ‘tapes’ placing every other bench in the church out of bounds are now removed, making all seating available.
The ‘green ticks’ in the benches showing people where to sit are now removed.
Congregational singing within the church is now permitted (although this will be through face coverings for the time being).
The collection will once again be taken using the closed leather bags (passing them along the benches - front to back).
The reception of Holy Communion will revert to normal practice (after receiving please return to your seat in the body of the church).
As you approach to receive Holy Communion please keep to the marked spacing on the floor so that there are gaps between communicants.
At the end of Mass please exit through the main front doors of the church (the side door is only to be used in the event of an emergency).
We still need to make sure that the benches are disinfected after each service and help from many more parishioners is required, it only takes five minutes after Mass! (please see the Ministries Rota at St Joseph’s statue).
As in society outside of the church all parishioners are expected to be sensible in their social distancing whilst taking part in Mass (and should not be attending if they have any of the symptoms of the Covid virus).
