The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . . A reasonably quiet week around The Presbytery, with the present ‘lock-down’ beginning to take effect . . . . . . Fr D was delighted to celebrate the Baptism of two babies at the 11.00 Mass last Sunday - originally the celebration was to have occurred on the solemnity of Christ the King last November (22nd) but had to be postponed because of the November ‘lock-down’ which included the closure of the church. We are delighted that these children have joined our Parish community. Tuesday turned out to be quite a busy day with Fr D having no less than three ‘virtual’ meetings after he had celebrated Mass in the morning. In the morning there was a meeting explaining the forthcoming Diocesan Mission ‘Invited’ which commences this Lent (some details contained in this week’s newsletter). Later in the afternoon Fr D was joining in a Deanery Clergy meeting, again on ‘Zoom’ - there is not normally a Deanery Meeting in January but the Bishop was keen that we did have one this year given the Covid situation. Finally, in the evening, Fr D was taking part in a meeting of Local Governors and Trustees of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust on ’Zoom’ to have training on the workings of the ’Governor's Virtual Office,’ an online system for the management of schools within the Bosco Trust. By the time he was making supper in the evening Fr D was definitely ‘zoomed out!’ On Wednesday, after he’d celebrated Mass, Fr D was again taking part in another virtual meeting, this time using Microsoft ‘Teams,’ for the Bosco Catholic Education Trust. This time it was just the trustees meeting to ratify the annual accounts for the Trust before they get sent to the government. After a sandwich lunch Fr D went for a long walk around Painshill Park with a friend who was quite determined to get him out into the fresh air! By the time he got back indoors it was time to think about making supper. What happened after that he doesn’t recall as he woke up in his armchair just at the 22.00 News came on! After celebrating Mass on Thursday Fr D was chasing up the engineers who are going to refurbish the Parish CCTV security system (new cameras, monitors and recorder); they fitted the Live-Stream System at the beginning of the pandemic and Fr D was so impressed with them that he asked them to quote for the refurbishment (substantially lower than the previous company . . . . . . .
