The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Once again it has been quite busy around he Presbytery this week . . . .
Sunday afternoon Fr D celebrated Lenten Evening Prayer & Benediction as he does for every Sunday afternoon of the Lenten Season. A period of quiet prayer and reflection taking people away from the ‘fast lane’ to a meeting with God in the blessed sacrament.
On Monday Fr D managed a couple of loads of washing before rushing off to the opticians to have his eye test (having not had one for three years!). As he expected his eyes have got worse and he had a new prescription (leaving him £400 lighter in his wallet!). When he got back home he was just in time to meet up for lunch with his old housekeeper from when he was Parish Priest of Reigate.
Tuesday morning after Morning Prayer, Mass and Exposition, Fr D was chasing up his application for the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive which, if approved will bring back £10,000 from the government over seven years for the recently fitted Air Source Heat Pump. It had been a very complicated form to fill in on line (that had no less that two booklets of instructions as to how to claim!), so he wanted to make sure that things were ‘in progress’ as it claim has to be in before 31st March to qualify. In the evening Fr D was helping out at a Reconciliation Service for one of the Deanery parishes in Tadworth.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Wednesday Fr D was off down to the Tribunal Office in Brighton once more. There have been quite a few applications for possible annulments since the beginning of the year, a sure sign that Covid is now in recession?
Before Mass on Thursday Fr D received an email from Ofgem concerning his application for the green grant for the new heating system in the Presbytery. This contained another sheet of questions to be answered in order to get the grant, some of which Fr D had to get the diocese to approach HSBC about (statements are addressed to The Parish Priest, not Fr Daryl George, so he had to prove that he runs the account!). In the afternoon the sound engineer and another specialist arrived to look at the sound on the LiveStream service. All possible adjustments have been looked at but no solution found - they have now gone away to research further. They think that the sound capability of the present camera is probably not up to transmitting the necessary sound information when it is more than just Fr D and any readers because it is a security camera and not a broadcast camera . . . . .
