The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Things are really beginning to ‘hot up’ now for our Holy Week and Easter Services when we remember the great sufferings and triumphs of Jesus . . . . .
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D spent some further time on his various homilies for Holy Week and also for the week after Easter when he will be in Lourdes with a group called the ‘Old & Bold!’ This group is mainly made up of helpers who after many years helping in children’s groups have decided to take things slightly easier and several who have been great donors to the HCPT Trust over several years. Fr D is travelling with this group this year because his own children’s group is not travelling this year because they decided that they wanted a bigger gap between COVID and taking special needs children so soon after restrictions have been reduced (also term –time does not suit the Easter Pilgrimage this year). In the evening Fr D and some friends were thinking over ideas for next years (2023) holiday, once again a Greek island is being looked at.
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D spent some time in the confessional immediately after Mass, giving further opportunities to celebrate the Lord’s forgiveness before Easter. Afterwards he was off in the car down to Bishop’s House in Hove for the last time until after Easter. There were several items that needed his signature in order to progress and one of his cases looks to be coming to the end of the evidence gathering side of things. This will mean that the Defender of the Marriage Bond will now look at what has been gathered and present arguments to Fr D for the validity of the marriage in question. After these arguments have been received the parties will be able to inspect all the evidence and the Defender’s comments before making their own final comments before the case is remitted to the three judges appointed to decide the case under Fr D’s leadership. On Thursday morning after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D once more spent time in the confessional before collecting a prescription from Boots and printing off a few copies of the Triduum Booklet for the musicians to practice with in the evening. Having let the musicians into the church for their practice Fr D was meeting for the last time with a family whose baby will be baptised at the 11.00am Mass on Easter Day - a very appropriate day for celebrating Baptism! On Saturday morning Fr D celebrated with some of our younger parishioners a special service of Reconciliation . . . . . .
