The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Quite a full week around The Presbytery this time . . . . . .
On Sunday, at our 10.00 Mass, our four candidates preparing to receive Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist in June, were enrolled into the programme of preparation (having already celebrated their First Reconciliation). Both the children and their parents recalled and renewed the promises that the parents made at their baptism as infants to be the first and best of teachers in the ways of faith, with all that this entails.
On Tuesday after celebrating Mass Fr D was, once more, available in the Reconciliation Room to celebrate God’s forgiveness for those who wished to avail themselves of the opportunity. Meanwhile in The Presbytery great strides were being made in the tiling of the guest bathroom now that various plumbing issues ‘dogging’ the project had been taken care of. When the tiler had left in the evening Fr D took a look at the work done and was very pleased with the way that things looked - fresh, clean, and practical.
After celebrating Mass on Wednesday Fr D looked in on the workers in the guest bathroom and found them offering the new bath up to the area it is to be fitted in to make sure that measurements and tiling allowed for a snug fitting. With the running of new waste pipes under the floor all the plumbing was now in place for the finished item!
On Thursday when he came back in to the house after celebrating Mass and Reconciliation there was an email waiting for him from the technicians to confirm that they are coming on 15 th March to update our CCTV security system inside the church and around the grounds. The old analogue system dated from Fr John McKay’s time (with a couple of cameras added as the Parish Centre was completed. Over the years technology has moved on and such things are now dealt with using digital technology. The ‘brains’ of the system had been grinding and making an awful noise since Fr D’s arrival, showing its age and finally last summer the pictures from the camera ceased to come through to the monitors. Fr D and the Parish Finance made the decision last year that upgrading the system was required and the engineers that dealt with the LiveStream service gave a very competitive quote for the works compared to others.
Friday morning and the builders were in early as the floor of the guest bathroom was now laid and it was time for the furniture and china to be fitted in place. Fr D couldn’t get over how big the bath looked before it was put in and joined up to the water and waste systems . . . . . . . .
