The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . . Slightly busier this week in The Presbytery . . . . . . On Monday, Fr D took advantage of some dead time, on his day off, to empty another of his moving boxes - he has been trying to get this done since arriving but ‘things’ always seem to get in the way. Most of the boxes are now emptied but he needs to spend time setting up his study before moving all of his reference books up from Worthing (which will obviously have to wait until the present ‘lock-down’ is over and ‘normal life’ can resume). Fr D’s computer has, he thinks, found it’s final place in the study and he has gradually been sorting various WiFi and Lan points around the house so that the internet communications are working throughout. He has managed to get his printer onto the system and it now prints on Lan and WiFi (he can even print from his iPhone if required!). After celebrating Mass on Tuesday morning Fr D began work on his Tax Return which needs to be sorted. At midday a bathroom fitter Fr D knows from a previous parish came to measure up the guest bathroom which is the only room that has not been decorated since the late 1970’s (he could tell by the colour of the bathroom suite and tiles!). Two or three months ago a leak was discovered that required the water to be cut off as the w.c. would need replacing. Our own builder will be doing the works but Fr D has arranged for the suite, cabinets, and a towel rail to be supplied. In the evening Fr D joined other members of the Parish Finance Committee to review last year’s figures and look at this year’s budget. They also decided to move ahead with the new sound system for the church and update/replace the failed CCTV security system. Fr D has now contacted the engineers for these items and asked them to go ahead. On Wednesday Fr D spent a little time pulling together figures for the tax return and then spent time on his next case at the Marriage Tribunal that is waiting for him for judgement. Thursday morning after celebrating Mass Fr D got ready for the burial service of one of our parishioners who died at the beginning of January; the service took place late in the morning. In the evening there would have been the second preparation session of the Infant Baptism Course but the family have decided to leave part two until the Covid situation improves, hopefully in the near future . . . . .
