The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
A busy week around The Presbytery as Fr D dealt with lots of post, email and queries that arose whilst he was away on his holiday.
Fr D arrived back home early on Sunday evening having had a very restful time away on the Greek island of Lefkas - the first time that he and his friends have visited the island. It was quite green and very undeveloped (compared to so many other islands they have visited over many years) and Fr D thoroughly enjoyed his time there.
Monday Fr D was working his way through lots of post and emails that had accumulated over the past three weeks. Fr D also emptied his suitcase to get holiday washing started and completed his mandatory ‘PCR Day Two’ test before posting it off in the afternoon. He also needed to re-stock the fridge, having run it down before the holiday.
Tuesday after celebrating Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D was around for the fitting of a new solar inverter for the Parish Centre. The new one is s replacement for the original which had ceased to work properly (we do not know for how long!); this time Fr D has insisted that it be connected to the computer in the Parish Office so that details of what it is doing (or not) are available all the time. Although the fitting went well trying to connect via WiFi was not successful and another part is required to make this happen.
Wednesday Fr D did not go down to Bishop’s House as usual as there was still too much to do that had built up over his holiday. In the evening he met with parishioners to discuss the Parish Christmas Bazaar to try and ‘get a handle’ on what normally happens. Obviously the event is still subject to the government allowing such things to go ahead (but even if they do not we still have the Grand Christmas Draw which will carry on regardless - so please make a big effort to keep selling the tickets!).
On Thursday Fr D was meeting with the electrician after Mass to change the light at the entrance to the confessional to an LED (the same as under the choir loft at the back of the church) to give a brighter light and be less expensive in electricity use. In the evening Fr D was meeting with three families who are preparing to have their infants baptised.
Friday morning straight after celebrating Mass Fr D had to rush off to attend a clergy ‘In-Service’ course on Safeguarding just as the sound engineer came to make a few more tweaks to the new sound system . . . . .
