The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
Fairly busy around The Presbytery this week as Fr D has been getting things ready in the Parish for his holiday . . . . . . .
On Monday he spent some time preparing the newsletters for the next few weeks whilst he is away. He was also boxing up things in his study ready for preparations (while he’s away) for its re-decoration in November (hopefully). There is work necessary on the ceiling and the electrics (lighting and power) which will be completed whilst he is away, before the decorators are able to move in.
After Morning Prayer, Mass and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D continued clearing his study of removable items ready for the workmen to come in. He managed to produce three black bin liners full of shredded paperwork and by mid afternoon was able to see some of the top of his desk again! Later he was preparing for another session with the parents of this year’s First Reconciliation/Eucharist candidates later on Tuesday evening - this time they were learning to talk with their children about God’s rules of love (covering the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes).
On Wednesday, following Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was off in his car down to the diocesan offices in Crawley once more. He was continuing with one of his marriage cases which he hopes will be ready to judge in early December. When he arrived back home in the late afternoon Fr D celebrated the Sacrament of the Sick with a parishioner. In the evening he was back to the study writing various bits for the next few newsletters and clearing some books off shelves again.
Thursday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D had intended to go down to the diocesan offices once more but he received a text from the doctors to attend the surgery in the late morning. He thinks this was requested because of a flu jab that he had on Saturday which meant that they looked at his records and realised that there were some issues to catch up on! Although he was not able to go down to Crawley it did give him some extra time working on newsletters and clearing his study.
After Morning Prayer and Mass on Friday Fr D was able to start thinking about packing for the holiday and got his case down from off of the wardrobe . . . . .
