A very busy week around The Presbytery this time as Fr D had the monthly th Deanery Clergy Meeting, final Candidate’s Session before the Confirmation July), preparations for this year’s First Eucharist celebration, and preparing our annual period of Extended Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Evening Prayer &
Benediction . . . . .
On Monday this week Fr D went over to St Clement’s, Ewell, for his monthly ‘Ministry to Priest’s Support Group’ meeting. After an hour before the Blessed Sacrament, they celebrated Midday Prayer, had lunch, and then settled down to their monthly ‘review of life.’ This time, via the wonders of technology (Zoom) a sick member of the group who has been shielding for over two and a half years was able to be part of the meeting!
After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday Fr D was off in the car to Epsom where this month’s Deanery Clergy Meeting was taking place. During the meeting all the priests were also taking part in the first of two Fire Safety webinars. At the end of their meeting they had a late lunch together before going back to their respective parishes. When he got home in the late afternoon Fr D, having received further updates at the Deanery Meeting prepared a diary sheet for our candidates with confirmed details.
On Wednesday after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D went off quickly to Bishop’s House and his office in the Tribunal. He had quite a few items that were waiting for him in his ‘in-tray’ which he set about working through. On the way home he stopped at Tescos, Gatwick, to do this week’s shopping before getting home in time to meet with the Confirmation Candidates for the last time before they are Confirmed by Bishop Richard.
Thursday morning after Morning Prayer and Mass Fr D spent some time finalising the newsletter ready for Sarah to print off and send off in email form to those parishioners who have registered to receive it electronically. During the morning he was waiting for a telephone call from the central energy buyers for the dioceses of England and Wales to further his attempts to get British gas to sort out the electricity meter in the house so that the excess electricity generated by the new solar panels can be sold back to the national grid. In the evening Fr D met with a young family for their first session on the current
