The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . .
This week was really, really hectic here around The Presbytery with several ‘outside’ appointments for Fr D to deal with . . . .
All day Friday and Saturday Fr D was occupied with our annual Parish Christmas Bazaar - he was very pleased with the number of parishioners who were making an effort to help with all the various aspects involved in such an event (and was delighted that ‘site take-down’ and packing away was completed within an hour of the end of the Grand Draw!).
On Sunday our celebration of Advent Evening Prayer and Benediction continued our Advent spiritual preparations for Christ’s coming.
Owing to continuing illness of one of Fr D’s Ministry to Priests Support Group he was again playing host to this months meeting on Monday. After Morning Prayer, Mass, and Exposition on Tuesday, Fr D had to get across to Banstead where this month’s Deanery Clergy meeting was taking place. A few more pieces of the puzzle that is the Bishop’s ‘Pastoral Plan ‘for the future of the diocese were made available to the clergy and discussed, but not much ‘new light’ was generated! After the meeting there was a splendid lunch laid on by some of the St Anne’s Parishioners. In the evening Fr D opened up the church for the musicians and singers to continue their practices for the music that will be used at our Christmas services.
On Wednesday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was jumping in the car again and heading off to Crawley, but this time it was not for his work at the Tribunal but for the Diocesan Office ‘Christmas Bash!’ All the ‘central team’ met for a short service of Midday Prayer before partaking of a Christmas buffet. Bishop Richard (along with a coupe of elves!) was responsible for giving out ‘secret Santa’ presents.
Thursday, after Morning Prayer and Mass, Fr D was off to Crawley again - this time for his work in the Tribunal where he was interviewing someone who is enquiring about the possible nullity of their former marriage. Straight after the Tribunal Fr D was at a Bosco Catholic Education Trust meeting at one of the Horsham Primary Schools. After this, he was expected at our Advent Adult Reconciliation Service in Our Lady of Sorrows, Effingham (Fr D was greatly disappointed that there were only four parishioners from the Sacred Heart - he obviously lives among saints! . . . .
