The musings of one of God’s smallest creatures on events in and around the Parish over the past seven days . . . . A hectic time around The Presbytery this week . . . . .
On Monday the builders were in the guest bathroom once again and things were beginning to take shape. It was discovered that the original waste pipe leading to the stack pipe had never been fixed properly to the wall and this had resulted in the pipe not being supported properly over many years - the first section of the pipe needed removing and a replacement fitted (this led to some contortionist imitations by the builders as they had to crawl into a very small roof-space to cut through the iron pipe with a pipe cutter).
On Tuesday morning Fr D had an email from the sound engineers to say that they were hoping to fit the new sound system works in after Easter week (Fr D was very pleased with this as the present system seems to be playing about more frequently over the past couple of weeks). The builders progressed on the works in the bathroom and the actual bath was fitted and siliconed in, the towel radiator (replacing an ordinary radiator) was mounted and piped in, and the unit for mounting the basin also appeared. As the builders had works elsewhere to undertake Fr D thought that they were not coming back until Saturday. In the afternoon/evening Fr D had two Zoom meetings - a Deanery Clergy Meeting at lunchtime and then a Bosco Catholic Education Trust Meeting in the early evening.
Wednesday Fr D was off to get his ‘jab’ after he had celebrated morning Mass. He was most impressed that there was no waiting involved (other than the statutory fifteen minutes after the jab before coming home). Coming home he was confused that the junction on the A3 that he came off to go to Chessington would not get him back on the A3 to get home; he had to just abandon himself to the satnav! Having heard from others how their arm hurt afterwards Fr D was very pleased that he did not experience any discomfort.
Thursday morning Fr D didn’t feel at all right (not sure of his balance at all). At lunchtime he struggled to eat a sandwich and then went to his armchair to do some reading - he woke at 19.00! He thought about getting supper together but really didn’t want to eat, so just took himself off to bed.
When he got up on Friday morning Fr D was feeling so much better than the day before and was happily eating breakfast when the builders appeared to progress the bathroom works (the weather meant that they could not be doing the roofing job that they were committed to).
